'These are songs by a true storyteller; Cory could buttonhole you in a crowded pub and make you listen and make you think. I come out of the other side of Cory's songs changed from the person I was when I went into them, which is what I want from a songwriter.' Ian McMillan Poet, and Broadcaster
Cory Flynn is a talented young singer-songwriter and musician from Brighton. His songs are folk/country/blues with an edge and a style heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams and others.
Cory’s songs feature just his distinctive voice and acoustic guitar, and sometimes keyboards. He produces a driving rhythm and flatpicking style on his guitar, and he has a blues approach to piano.
His songs tell stories in a very original way and Cory has attracted praise for his inventive use of language. His lyrics invoke his heroes Dylan and James Joyce, but also refer to his love of modernist poetry (Eliot, Pound) as well as his fascination of the myths of the Ancient World.
Cory has recently recorded his first studio album, “A Boy Named Hunger”, comprising nine original songs accompanied by piano and guitar, to be released in autumn 2017. Cory Flynn is a name to watch.
